ATLANTE 3 is a handmade patterned carpet made of Sardinian wool.
Architect Mario Trimarchi designed the system of ATLANTE wall rugs and tapestries made using the Piobones weaving technique. Each carpet is handcrafted with ancient wooden looms, using wool from Sardinian flocks and natural cotton, and is dyed with environmentally sustainable substances. Thanks to the use of wooden looms, it is possible to create a relief weave that lends three-dimensionality to the decoration.
Strong and decisive marks, orthogonal black lines also arranged diagonally, draw fields and natural forms that alternate and support each other, defining the image of a collection of rugs and tapestries with a distinct personality: a leaf, a pear, a donkey, a vase.
The magic of drawing and the beauty of craftsmanship
The patterns in the Atlante series combine trajectories and references to nature and human labour through the traditional Sardinian weaving technique. The ancient craft technique, handed down and practiced exclusively in Sardinia, blends harmoniously with contemporary taste and design. The result is a collection of extraordinary products that embody the best of past traditions and modern aesthetics.
For Mario Trimarchi, drawing is a magical practice that connects us in a simple way to what is and what is not, helping us to better understand things and bringing us closer to the secret of beauty.
