LUNE D’ACQUA is a table LED lamp made of metal and glass.
Lune d’acqua introduces a fascinating new idea: the magic of the icy moons orbiting Jupiter and Saturn. These celestial bodies, with their extraordinary allure, are liquid and mysterious worlds enclosed in spherical shells of ice. Their unique characteristics designate them as privileged locations within the Solar System, potentially capable of hosting life forms.
The hydrothermal activity that stirs these hidden oceans manifests in gigantic geysers emerging from the cracks in the ice, and this energy fuels this magnificent play of phases - vapor, liquid, and solid. Water, surrendering to the power of these transformations, continuously surprises us by transforming into something else. Even into light.
The sphere is at the center of the project. Held by two rings, it is free to rotate suspended at the center of their intersection. The ring enclosing the sphere houses the LEDs that inject light into the inner surface. When turned off, it remains transparent. Once illuminated, it comes alive with light emitted through micro-engravings, revealing the soft, three-dimensional wave of its geometry.
This project arises from a collaboration of knowledge and values, blending different perspectives and expertise from both Artemide and the authors. The resulting light not only illuminates spaces but also seeks to evoke meanings and metaphors, conveying a message and inviting the understanding of new perspectives.
