Bernardelli Group MAK5
MAK5 is a pre-mixed dry mortar composed of hydrated lime, Portland cement, selected sands, fibres and additives that improve workability, adhesion and flexural strength. The product complies with UNI EN 998-1 and is classified as GP CS II - W0.
MAK5 is used as a base plaster for plastering masonry made of bricks, concrete blocks and mixed masonry. The presence of fibres improves the mechanical characteristics of the product, in particular the flexural strength, and reduces the probability of cracks appearing.
PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE
The substrate must be free of dust, efflorescence, release agents, greasy or oily substances. The surface of the substrate must be homogeneous, rough and free of loose parts. Any cavities must be filled with the same material at least 24 hours before plastering. Masonry with a particularly smooth surface must be treated in advance with suitable primer. In hot, dry climates, the substrate must be dampened before plastering and the mortar, once applied, must be protected from rapid drying.
PREPARATION OF THE PRODUCT
Load the hopper of the plastering machine with a sufficient amount of material, start the machine by adjusting the water flow until a consistency suitable for applying the plaster is obtained, normally this is achieved using approx. 23% water, equal to 5.8 litres per bag. Adjust the air at the lance to achieve an even spray pattern. Apply the plaster in thicknesses between 10 mm and 20 mm per coat. Once the plaster has been applied, level it with a straight edge. After 2 to 4 hours, depending on weather conditions and the type of substrate, the surface can be float-finished and
then roughened. For thicknesses of more than 20 mm, the plaster must be applied in successive layers at least 24 hours apart. In such cases, it is advisable to apply a first layer of sprayed-on rendering at least 24-48 hours before the plaster body is applied. MAK5 is only applied with a plastering machine (type: m-tec duo-mix, PFT G4, etc.).
