BABY AKÈNE is the compact version of the famous Akène bench, a piece of furniture that combines natural inspiration, formal research and French craftsmanship.‎ The design originates from observation of theAkène, the single-seeded dried fruit of the maple tree, characterised by its propeller-like shape that allows it to rotate and glide in the wind.‎ Materials: - Polyester resin reinforced with glass fibre - Oak base, demountable The combination of composite materials and natural wood creates an elegant contrast between contemporary surface and material warmth.‎ Acknowledgements: The Akène project has received major international awards: - 'Les Découvertes' Prize at Maison & Objet (2012), awarded by Le Journal du Design - 'Metropolislikes' Prize awarded by Metropolis magazine during WantedDesign NYC (2017)
