Lime putty is ideal for the preparation of finishing mortars.‎ In addition to traditional plaster or masonry mortar, it reacts chemically with the substrate, allowing the wall to ‘breathe’ and preventing the formation of damp areas and mould.‎ Composite mortars with slaked lime offer superior workability and compressive strength, along with low water permeability and excellent cohesion.‎ It is also used for water purification and pest control on farms.‎ Also diluted with water, it can be used as a tempera for painting.‎
