EME, a chair born from a reflection on the archetype and the evolution of everyday objects. Designed by Mario Martínez, the collection is positioned as a “contemporary version of the traditional chair,” joining the warmth of classic interior forms with the robustness and cleanliness of modern industrial design for the outdoors. EME is the result of an exercise in synthesis where every component has a reason for being, fleeing from ornament to embrace an honest and timeless elegance.
For its creator, the challenge of designing a chair lies in its proximity to the user:
“Unlike a building, the chair directly confronts the body without intermediaries. It is an object with which we interact for long periods of time, so any error becomes immediately evident.”
Under this premise, the EME chair has been conceived to integrate into diverse contexts without imposing itself, seeking that emotional connection that Martínez identifies in Danish, Mediterranean, and Japanese design.
Thanks to its proportions and a careful selection of materials, EME blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor furniture. It is a stackable and versatile piece, capable of naturally inhabiting both the dining room of a private home and the terraces of contract and hospitality projects. Its design, the result of a cross-pollination of cultures, seeks to connect with the most primitive and emotional part of people through lightness and formal clarity.
