PLAM CEM DRAIN
Permeable concrete paving
PLAM CEM DRAIN permeable concrete paving is a technical solution designed for architects, engineers, landscape architects and contractors who wish to combine high mechanical performance, permeability and aesthetic quality in a single surface. Thanks to its porous structure, permeable concrete allows water to pass rapidly through the surface layer and reach the sub-base, contributing to the effective management of rainwater on outdoor surfaces, reducing surface runoff and the formation of standing water.
Compared with traditional impermeable surfaces, PLAM CEM DRAIN promotes the natural water cycle, improves the usability of outdoor spaces even after heavy rainfall, and helps to limit the strain on drainage networks. High-strength permeable concrete also guarantees stability and durability even in areas subject to pedestrian and vehicular traffic, making it an ideal solution for projects focused on environmental sustainability and urban regeneration.
Isoplam permeable pavements can be designed for footpaths, permeable surfacing for car parks, squares, pavements, ramps, courtyards, permeable concrete for cycle paths and permeable paving for vehicle access areas, adapting grain size, thicknesses and performance to the specific requirements of the project. The continuity of the surface and the wide range of finishes available also allow the paving to blend harmoniously with the architectural and landscape context.
As with any permeable concrete paving, the final performance depends on the correct design of the entire system. Sub-base preparation, the sizing of the layers, the choice of mix and professional installation are fundamental elements in ensuring permeability, strength and long-term durability. Maintenance of draining floorings, through the regular removal of leaves, dust and other debris, also helps to preserve the floorings’ drainage capacity over time.
In addition to the quality of the material, choosing PLAM CEM DRAIN permeable concrete means relying on a partner who supports designers, project managers and contractors at every stage of the project, from defining the most suitable solution right through to the completion of the works. Support includes technical consultancy during the design phase, application guidelines, training for installers and, where required, the presence of a specialist technician on site to verify that the system is being installed correctly. This approach ensures performance in line with project specifications, high quality standards and the maximum long-term reliability of the permeable concrete paving.
APPLICATION
1. Application of Isoplam non-woven fabric (TNT), a drainage geotextile, onto well-compacted ground;
2. Laying of a mixed stabilised/gravel sub-base;
3. Application of Isoplam PLAM CEM DRAIN, coloured with Isoplam PLAM Oxid where required;
4. Levelling, compaction and finishing with a screed machine
5. Laying of nylon sheeting to ensure proper curing.
