KASANE - Charcoal Slate/Caviar
Rectangular handmade wool rug
Kasane introduces a subtle, nature-inspired palette into contemporary living spaces and is the only rug in the collection to use colour—green. Kasane is a Japanese concept of layering that creates depth and richness through the overlapping of materials, colours, or forms.
The primary inspiration comes from the Albert Kahn Museum in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, whose architecture is defined by layered elements that mediate between nature and interior space. Rather than acting as a rigid boundary, the façade functions as a gentle filter, allowing light and materials to interact and overlap.
Through refined colour gradations and intricate patterning, Jaipur Rugs reinterprets this idea of layering, translating it into a contemporary textile form.
The FACE collection explores the complex “faces” or façades of Kengo Kuma’s architectural works, highlighting their subtle and captivating fragments, textures, and transitions revealed through light, materials, and nature. As a result, bold colours were not necessary: the collection favours natural, earthy tones—shades of brown, taupe, beige, and grey—enhanced by striking black and white graphic accents. The rugs are available in several colour variations, offering great versatility for contemporary interiors.
The use of wool reflects Kengo Kuma’s appreciation for natural materials, while regenerated viscose provides the rigidity required to achieve his innovative three-dimensional designs, showcasing his distinctive exploration of materials. The result is a contemporary aesthetic: a collection designed to last over time and become an integral part of interiors, enriching them for generations.
