Arkadius is an armchair with a frame made of ash wood.
Arkadius is a collection built around a seating system that redefines the boundary between upholstery and architecture.
The project stems from a precise observation: outdoor seating systems often lack a clear structural identity, while indoor sofas have traditionally been defined by their spatial presence. Arkadius brings these two worlds together in a hybrid object, conceived from the outset to inhabit both indoor and outdoor environments with the same formal coherence.
Defining the character of the project is the rhythm of the vertical wooden elements running along the backrests and armrests: a measured, quiet colonnade framing the upholstered modules, balancing structure and softness. Not a decorative detail, but the generative gesture behind the entire system — capable of creating visual order, material depth, and a presence that changes with the light throughout the day.
For indoor settings, this structure is crafted in ash wood, chosen for its elegant grain and its ability to convey warmth and solidity.
In the outdoor version, laCividina introduces iroko wood, naturally resistant to weather conditions and presented with a woven finish that adds material depth while evoking a craft tradition reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
Within this architectural framework, the upholstered volumes appear almost suspended: generous cushions inviting prolonged relaxation, welcoming without excess. The proportions are designed to encourage relaxed postures in both private and collective settings, with a palette of fabrics and materials calibrated around natural, muted, and timeless tones.
