MATHILDA
Wooden armchair with armrests
Mathilda is an armchair characterised by a simple, well-proportioned design, based on two side-mounted trestle-style elements that support the seat and backrest. The legs are made of solid ash or oak with a varnished finish and come with interchangeable leg caps. The seat is made from polyurethane foam of varying densities, with an internal frame of wood and wood-based materials. The backrest is made from curved beech plywood and moulded polyurethane foam. The seat height, when unloaded, is 44 cm. The armrest covers are available in leather, fabric or braided rope. Mathilda does not have removable covers and features a selection of recommended fabrics as indicated in the technical tables.
An everyday object, an easily recognized shape from our collective memory, that is why it feels familiar, there is something of a resemblance. Mathilda is a modern design in the architectural sense, in the proportions between the whole and the detail. The concept is simple, perfect for its intended use: two trestles, which give solidity and affinity, hold the seat and act as a support for the backrest while also making the chairs stackable. Considered, careful intuition brings the design bang up-to-date to create a seating system which is coherent, practical and instantly recognizable.
