Tubes ADD_ON Wall-mounted aluminium decorative radiator

ADD_ON was designed by Satyendra Pakhalé for Tubes Radiatori in 2004, as part of the Elements collection, entrusted to internationally renowned architects and designers, to offer a series of towel warmers that would respond to new market demands, both in terms of design and aesthetics.‎ The towel warmer is thus not just a functional element, but a furnishing accessory that can go beyond its use in the bathroom alone, to create new and original solutions.‎ add-On was designed with the precise intention of offering a modular solution, as the name suggests: the radiator is in fact made up of shaped elements, which allow for free configuration.‎ As the Indian designer declares: "I have conceived a system based on a module developed in two directions thanks to four shaped sides that allow other modules to be added and thus create an infinite radiator".‎ This radiator can of course be fixed to the wall, but it can also take on a dual function, as a partition element within the room or, again, become an integral part of a wall, thanks to a special intra-wall support.‎ From a technical point of view, Add-On is equipped with an aluminium structure, capable of guaranteeing rapid heat exchange, and is available in an electric version or a hydraulic version; in the latter case, a flush-mounted unit is also supplied, which includes a valve and lockshield and can be placed at a considerable distance from the Radiators (maximum 6 metres), thus avoiding becoming a visual interference.‎ Add-On is part of the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris and won the Red Dot Design Award in 2008.‎ The Elements collection is the expression of a desire to eliminate stereotypes and pre-established industrial design processes.‎‎ In a society that is free from conditioning, objects - whatever kind they may be - can “release themselves” too; that is to say, they can eliminate technical aesthetics and undergo design modifications.‎‎ So freeing a radiator from its valves and position these at a distance of as much as six metres, thanks to a patented built-in unit, is equivalent to freeing it from its typical technical appearance.‎‎ This brings about new possibilities of interpretation of form according to aesthetic-intellectual rules that differ from previous ones.‎‎ For this reason, along with the Basics and Extras collections, the company introduced the Elements collection, created by architects and designers of international renown.‎‎ Elements becomes a “container of ideas” where the designers are called upon to create radiators that are more closely linked with the aesthetics of the home, where the sensual warmth of heating products is integrated into the architectural space with the same dignity and importance in project terms as other contemporary interior decoration elements.‎‎ Further info from manufacturer on ADD_ON Tubes
