Cassina CNOSSO Ceramic vase

CNOSSO is a polished glazed ceramic vase.‎ The aesthetic codes of Ancient Greece resurface in the re-edition of CNOSSO, the model designed by Kazuhide Takahama that enriches Cassina's range of accessories.‎ Originally produced as a planter by the company Simongavina, acquired by Cassina in 2013, CNOSSO is now rethought as a ceramic vase with a strong expressive force.‎ The intersection of sculpted volumes, born of the Japanese designer's stroke, gives form to a stylised column reminiscent of an Ionic capital, with a vibrant pop aesthetic accentuated by the glazed finish.‎ Proposed in a single size, CNOSSO is a sculptural object presented in two elegant colours carefully selected by Cassina: iridescent black, which pays homage to the original finish of the model, and chalk white.‎ The vase is distinguished above all by its graphic design, essential in its purist forms, which conceals a highly complex craftsmanship process divided into seven phases.‎ Casting in the plaster mould is followed by the engraving of the Cassina logo and the words Made in Italy, impressed on the bottom of the object only when the material, just taken out of the mould, is solid enough to keep its shape but still malleable enough to be engraved.‎ The raw vessel is then left to air dry in preparation for three successive firing stages.‎ Between the first and second firing, it is dipped into the glaze, which makes it waterproof, shiny and coloured, and then subjected to a further high-temperature step to fix the colours and vitrify the surface.‎
