Deirdre Dyson CAN CAN Hand knotted rug in wool and graded wool

CAN CAN is an hand knotted rug in wool and graded wool.‎ Goodweave certified.‎ In ‘Can-Can’, Deirdre teases the eye by alternating dark and light shades - twenty altogether - and inverts the grading of each colour.‎ Dramatic colour choices are offset by a black wool background.‎ Deirdre says “The colours are beautiful and showy and reminded me of the Can-Can girls’ uniformity and kicking legs, so this title seemed perfect.‎ The combination of colour and angles makes the lower half appear to come forward”.‎ Deirdre has injected a totally fresh dimension into her 2023 collection, with ten new designs that celebrate the striking effect created by interplaying angles and linear shapes.‎ Her hand sketches were transposed with design technician Nichola into computer designs, Deirdre cleverly applying her eye for colour to turn them into designs that produce different illusions.‎ Such as, a three dimensional or transparent appearance, or to give a sense of depth and distance.‎ All in all, it’s a collection that Ancient Greek pioneers of trigonometry would be delighted by – as it artistically brings their theories to life!
