Eichholtz CADWALADER Rectangular marble console table

The Met x Eichholtz presents the Console Table Cadwalader, a sophisticated centerpiece that commands attention.‎ Crafted with a striking black marble top and a sculpted base in rich black wood, this console table embodies elegance and grandeur.‎ The flowing curves and refined silhouette pay homage to 18th-century craftsmanship, while the deep tones and fine materials bring a sense of modern luxury.‎ Designed to elevate any interior, the Cadwalader adds a dramatic yet timeless presence.‎ HISTORIC PROVENANCE The Console Table Cadwalader takes its inspiration from a remarkable 18th-century American table in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art once owned by General John Cadwalader (1742‚ 1786), a prominent Revolutionary War‚ era figure in Philadelphia.‎ The original table‚ likely created by a London-trained carver newly arrived in America‚ combines the fluid ornamentation of the French Rococo style with the naturalistic precision of English carving.‎ This refined blend of European artistry and American history is reimagined in a contemporary form through The Met x Eichholtz collaboration.‎
