Eurograte
Structural profiles are manufactured using a pultrusion process (polymerisation of a profile pulled through a heated die) and may contain up to 70% fibreglass, ensuring high mechanical resistance.
GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) pultruded profiles are made using thermosetting resins as a chemical-resistant matrix.
The matrix material is based on an isophthalic polyester resin system which binds with the glass fibres and gives the chemical resistance to the final product. Other types of resin are also available, such as vinyl esters, acrylics, and self-extinguishing halogen-free resins with low smoke emissions. The resin systems are all certified to AFNOR or ASTM standards.
The mechanical reinforcement uses unidirectional fibreglass filaments of E-glass roving. Reinforcements and protection (the hallmark of EUROGRATE® quality). Every EUROGRATE® pultruded profile is manufactured using continuous multidirectional glass mats that increase transverse mechanical resistance. A polyester veil is incorporated on the surface, ensuring protection from UV radiation and weathering.
EUROGRATE® pultruded fibreglass profiles are designed to be used as structural supports with all the necessary safety guarantees.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PULTRUDED PROFILES
- corrosion resistance: pultruded profiles normally use isophthalic resin, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance. (Other resins are available on request).
EUROGRATE® stabilises the resin against UV and adds a corrosion-resistant barrier to the external surface. This barrier increases the volume of resin on the surface and avoids fibre blooming.
A straightforward choice that's better than steel: depending on the strength required, the choice of the profile to use is simple - it’s the same as choosing a steel profile. Easy to install, cut and drill with the usual tools. Pultruded profiles can be assembled more quickly than metal profiles.
LightWeight and insulation: support using EUROGRATE® pultruded profiles weighs about three times less than its equivalent in steel with the same rigidity.
This leads to savings in transportation, handling and assembly and reduces costs for components that require frequent maintenance.
Non-magnetic and non-conductive, EUROGRATE® pultruded profiles do not interfere with radio, RF, or radar waves and offer excellent electrical and thermal insulation.
- fibreglass nuts and bolts: threaded nuts and bolts in fibreglass-reinforced epoxy resin offer excellent mechanical and chemical resistance.
This means than they can be used to construct hard-wearing structures with no need for any metallic components. Using standard ISO pitch, they differ from metal bolts in that they have a specially profiled thread that maintains a continuous hold.
