PALME
Low round coffee table
Palme is a low round coffee table featuring a steel base structure wrapped in woven cord, with a top available in three different finishes: steel, ash wood, and Really textile.
Palme is a collection of coffee tables and poufs designed by Zanellato / Bortotto, born from a narrative of place and memory.
The project draws inspiration from the star-shaped plan of Palmanova, an extraordinary example of an ideal Renaissance city where geometric rigor and formal harmony merge into a rare balance. From this perfect geometry — the nine-pointed star visible from above — emerges a three-dimensional metal framework that structures the entire project, becoming the base, visual rhythm, and distinctive feature of the table.
The woven perimeter is the expressive heart of the project.
Crafted in paper cord for the indoor version and in treated technical rope for the outdoor one, this artisanal detail — rooted in the local tradition of weaving and rush seating — softens the strict geometry of the structure and enhances its perceptual value, introducing warmth and depth into an otherwise essential composition. The contrast between the weave and the upper top, smooth and precise, creates a deliberately refined material tension: natural yet contemporary, matte and glossy, soft and rigorous.
The top is available in three variants, multiplying the project’s expressive possibilities: sheet metal, for a more graphic and industrial aesthetic; ash wood, for a warmer and more natural dialogue with the structure; and the Really textile tabletop developed in collaboration with Kvadrat, the project’s most innovative proposal. Really is a material created through an upcycling process that transforms end-of-life textiles into high-performance engineered surfaces. In a context where approximately 95% of textiles could be recycled but only 25% are actually recovered, this choice represents a concrete response: a material that does not compromise on aesthetic quality while restoring value to resources otherwise destined for waste.
