HAIKU NATURAL STRAW
Rocking chair in ash wood and straw with armrests
HAIKU natural straw is the rocking chair with woven straw that is a nod to tradition passed down from generation to generation. The hand-woven seat and backrest combined with the gentle rocking motion and the stained ash construction create a unique atmosphere of reflection, coziness and contact with matter.
The Haiku collection is a project inspired by the Japanese art of creating short poetic forms – haiku – which in a few lines can capture the fleetingness of a moment, emotion and the rhythm of nature. Like poetry, this line of furniture was designed with simplicity, balance and focus on what is most important in mind. The ideological context for this collection is also the classic haiku by Mizuta Masahide, a poet from the Edo period:
„Barn’s burnt down. Now I can see the moon”
Mizuta Masahide (1657–1723)
This simple, yet profound poem becomes a metaphor for looking deep within oneself, for seeing beauty despite losses – an idea that is also close to the assumptions of this collection.
CarlesiTonelli designers, drawing on the idea of pure, balanced forms, created a collection that does not flaunt its form, but subtly affects the senses and emotions. This is a proposal for spaces that are to inspire reflection and communion with objects designed with duration, harmony and tranquility in mind.
