HASHI
Barrel-shaped table with marble top and solid wood frame
Hashi, a table designed by Matteo Zorzenoni, is a project of great architectural merit that translates the concept of conviviality into a sophisticated balance between fine cabinet-making, attention to detail and Eastern influences. The name itself recalls traditional Japanese bridges – ‘hashi’ means ‘bridge’ in Japanese – evoking a design language in which structural rigour and formal simplicity coexist in perfect harmony. The table stems from this inspiration: an architectural statement capable of connecting material, space and relationship.
A distinctive feature of this piece is its sculptural solid wood base, comprising slanted legs joined by a central crossbar that serves as both a technical and expressive detail. The structural joint, deliberately left exposed, celebrates the value of artisanal craftsmanship and precision in construction, transforming function into an aesthetic language.
Hashi defines the space with authority without ever weighing it down. Although characterised by substantial volumes, the table conveys a sense of great balance thanks to a careful process of formal subtraction: soft edges, rounded corners and contoured profiles lighten its visual presence and guide the light across the surfaces, amplifying the sense of overall harmony.
Its design versatility is further enhanced by the choice of three different materials for the tabletop, each designed to engage with different contexts and aesthetic sensibilities: the authentic warmth of wood, for a refined all-wood interpretation; the contemporary textural quality of Light Stone (stoneware); or the timeless elegance of marble.
With Hashi, Novamobili offers a sophisticated synthesis of craftsmanship and design culture: a table that transcends its functional role to become a manifesto of minimalist, textural and profoundly architectural design.
