PH BOW GRAND PIANO
Maple piano
PH Bow Grand Piano is a maple piano.
First designed in 1937 by Poul Henningsen, it is a radical departure from the expectation of how a wooden-cased piano should be presented. With superior quality found in every detail, this piano is a stunning work of sculptural art as well as a fine musical instrument.
The PH Bow Grand Piano is constructed around a lid of four organic flowing ‘waves’ of timber, which resembles the design of the Opera House in Sydney; it's supported by three wooden legs. This fluidity of design creates a sense of intimacy with the piano itself: intimidating sharp lines are broken, creating an instrument that is inviting to touch, to play, to listen to. The sound quality is outstanding, very elegant and with a warm tone.
The PH Bow Grand Piano is sized to fit comfortably in many home environments as well as public spaces and performance venues. Presented in American red maple, birds eye maple or chestnut wood, this piano enhances many diverse interior environments whether they are traditional, mid-century, or contemporary in style.
Poul Henningsen designed four different eye-catching pianos in the 1930s: the PH Grand Piano, the PH Bow Grand Piano, the PH Pianette and the PH Upright Piano. PH Pianos has the exclusive licence to produce these pianos. Each one of the pianos has a recognisable design, from contemporary to futuristic, and are unique art pieces to be considered Danish design classics.
Poul Henningsen believed that the piano was not just the preserve of the Classical Concert Hall or the Conservatoire but belonged equally in every setting from the jazz club to the residential home. Thus, across the four Poul Henningsen piano designs, all of them being customisable, there is a PH Piano perfectly suited to every venue or interior setting.
PH ground-breaking and unconventional designs create an atmosphere that is about art, entertainment, and music. PH Pianos symbolises solid values of great design that appear to be in synergy with the natural world, perfectly executed craftmanship, materials used, functionalism and longevity. Besides, the sound is brilliant and crystal clear.
