Tacchini BASILAN Rattan chair without armrests

Design and artisanal tradition come together in Basilan, a chair that reflects a contemporary approach to interior design and a sensitivity toward authenticity and natural materials that goes beyond design itself.‎ Basilan represents one of the most original moments in the design research of Afra and Tobia Scarpa, blending materiality with techniques that were unprecedented in Italian design of the 1970s.‎ A modular rattan frame, enhanced by metal details and leather ties, serves as structure, ornament, and definition.‎ The material, bearing the memory of the hands and gestures that wove it, transforms the chair into an organic and tactile expression, where the woven surfaces seem to come to life in a delicate balance between visual lightness and structural solidity.‎
