Vitra holds the distribution rights in Europe and the Middle East.‎ The rights in the rest of the world are held by MillerKnoll.‎ The Lounge Chair by Charles and Ray Eames is one of the greatest design pieces of the 20th century.‎ This elegant and exceptionally comfortable chair has been produced by Vitra since the 1950s, using essentially the same manufacturing techniques and high-quality materials.‎ The Lounge Chair is available in two sizes and various combinations of leather or fabric upholstery, as well as different wooden shells and bases.‎ Since the Lounge Chair first went into production, the average human height has increased by almost 10 cm.‎ In close collaboration with the Eames Office, Vitra has developed the new, larger version so that taller people can also enjoy the same exceptional comfort envisioned by Charles and Ray Eames in their original 1956 design.‎ Material description Seat and backrest: moulded plywood, various visible veneers.‎ Natural cherry, natural chestnut, black chestnut, natural walnut, dark walnut, Santos rosewood.‎ Upholstery/cover: removable cushions, fabric upholstery.‎ Seat height: 380 mm (250 mm under load, measured in accordance with EN 1335-1:2000).‎ Armrests: attached to the seat and back shells with shock-absorbing rubber and metal joints.‎ Base: five-star swivel base and back braces in die-cast aluminium.‎ Black sides with polished aluminium edges, fully polished aluminium version or fully chrome-plated version available.‎ Glides: all bases are equipped with plastic glides for carpets; felt glides for hard floors are available as an option.‎ Further info from manufacturer on EAMES LOUNGE CHAIR Vitra
