PICV (Pressure Independent Control Valves) are dynamic balancing valves, which, thanks to a diaphragm device with a contrast spring, are able to maintain a constant flow rate within a certain range of differential pressure. These devices consist of a valve body that can be combined with an insert depending on the type of operation and the required working conditions (flow rate, differential pressure). There are four types of inserts:
• PICC 01/11, available in different models for valves from DN 15 to DN 32. This insert makes it possible to precalibrate the flow rate with up to 8 available levels/positions, while providing for its stabilisation, even in case of pressure variations.
• PICC 02/12/22, available in different models for valves from DN 15 to DN 50, which transforms the PICV valve into a flow stabiliser. Using a special key a position/range can be selected from among the 41 available on each insert. The advantage compared to PICC 01/11 is that the calibration position can be changed directly from the outside and while the system is running.
• PICC 03/13, available in different models for valves from DN 15 to DN 32. This insert has similar features to the previous one, namely it stabilises the flow rate and the choice of 41 different flow positions, but it also can be fitted with an on/off or 0-10 V axial actuator. This way it is possible to provide for the cut off of the valve, but also and above all, the modulation of the flow rate regardless of the differential pressure. Actually, the valve limits the maximum flow rate, modulating it independently of the pressure at the ends of the insert.
• PICC 20, available in over 100 different models for DN 65 and DN 80 sizes. These inserts guarantee a single flow rate value within a pre-set range of differential pressure.
