ÈCDISI
Wooden parquet
Ècdisi by Flavia Torretta is a wooden parquet by Mardegan Legno in collaboration with SOS School of Sustainability.
BIOPHILIA, MUTATION AND ADAPTABILITY.
The Ècdisi collection is the result of a research process inspired by the animal world of reptiles.
The term, originating from Greek, indicates the process of loss and reformation of the superficial layer of the epidermis. The skin, in fact, was the inspiration for the creation of a pattern from which a module reminiscent of (adapting to the criteria of design, cutting and laying) the scales of snakes was derived.
The regeneration process thus becomes the actual collection’s objective in terms of sustainability: the ability to adapt and last in a practically infinite amount of time. In fact, should the necessity arise, the individual elements lend themselves to being replaced over time.
The idea of working together with SOS School of Sustainability, a post-graduate school founded in 2015 by Arch. Mario Cucinella, born from the desire of Mardegan Legno, to develop new collections that have as primary focus sustainability and environmental protection.
The collaboration marks an important moment in the research of Mardegan Legno, which combines creativity, innovation, craftsmanship and environmental sustainability in a highly professional educational and educational context.
The result are 10 different collections, developed by young emerging designers who combine the most modern design trends with the careful and conscious use of raw materials, a unique opportunity to combine creativity and innovation with environmental sustainability.
