Midgard Licht TYP 113 Steel desk lamp

An icon of modern lighting history from the early 1920s: for Midgard’s 100th anniversary, the legendary TYP 113 ‘Peitschenleuchte’ (The Whip) returns to the Midgard product catalogue.‎ The Hamburg-based manufacturer will initially launch a special version featuring original E27 rotary switch sockets made from Bakelite (NOS – New Old Stock from the 1930s), which comes as a limited edition of 100 pieces.‎ A special highlight: Thonet, the furniture manufacturer known for its longstanding tradition and for tubular steel designs from the Bauhaus era, has been brought on board as a collaboration partner, producing the lamp’s signature whip-shaped arm from tubular steel for this limited edition.‎  All components have been carefully researched and reconstructed according to the original adjustable design.‎ In terms of the materials and manufacturing methods, the lamps are made in exactly the same way as they were in the 1920s.‎ The components get their metal sheen from nickel plating: screws are turned and knurled and the insulator at the lamp’s shade is made of glazed porcelain.‎ It’s this combination that gives the limited edition its outstanding technical and visual elegance.‎ Following the limited edition, a standard variant of the TYP 113 is planned to be released.‎ Textile cable, standard length 1.‎5m E27 retrofit Further info from manufacturer on TYP 113 Midgard Licht
