Concrete blocks have established themselves as the best solution in all those uses where the use of fire-resistant walls is necessary.‎ In the industrial and service sectors, the use of prefabricated buildings with large structural meshes has led to the creation of 'slender' masonry that must guarantee static safety both in operating conditions and in the event of fire (high fire stop buffers).‎ The Fire stop buffers construction system combines construction techniques that are more suitable for the realisation of high fire stop masonry with the fire resistance performance of an expanded clay block.‎ Example of a large reinforced facing masonry with horizontal and vertical stiffeners.‎The vertical stiffeners are realised in hollow blocks aligned vertically with staggered joints.‎ The horizontal stiffeners, on the other hand, are realised inside special blocks known as "Correa Blocks" or "Architrave Blocks" or inside hollow blocks designed to be used as kerbs.‎
