The world's first solar sculpture. Cubo was born from the desire to show the possibility in the near future of solar technologies that can be not only efficient, but also beautiful.
This is the achievement of designer Davide Oppizzi, to bring together two elements in an outdoor sculpture: the first is a solar panel whose cells are invisible to the naked eye (developed by KromatixTM), the second is a minimalist Corten® metal cube, produced thanks to the expertise of Schaller, specialists in outdoor metal installations. Glass and metal combine to form a sculpture with futuristic and mineral aspects, like a formation of crystals out of the ground, for optimal energy. Cubo’s architecture is designed for ideal orientation towards the sky with dynamic asymmetry that makes it seem alive.
Indeed Cubo is not only an attractive sculpture with its earthy colours and alluring materials. It also functions as an impressive solar electric generator, capable of accumulating energy through its elegant colourful photovoltaic panel to power garden lights or any other system requiring energy outside or inside the house.
Davide Oppizzi manages to combine cutting edge technology and sculptural art. Is this not a distinctive feature of the intrinsic beauty of nature surrounding us?
