GALTERA M
Low round metal planter
From the Galtera line of vases, two sheets of metal meet in a spiral, embracing like the walls of a gorge carved out by water. Depending on the observer's viewpoint, the light glides across the surface, transforming the perception of its volume. The silhouette also evokes a cauldron or a medieval helmet, reminiscent of the artisanal and defensive history of the Fribourg gorges.
Derived from the Latin word caldarione, meaning "cauldron," Galtera refers to a steep-sided valley carved out by water. The Galtera River flows through the canton of Fribourg in a narrow gorge lined with cliffs, where mills and hammer mills were established as early as the Middle Ages. As it approaches the city of Fribourg, the river and the valley take the name Gottéron before joining the Sarine River.
