ELIKA
For special geotechnical conditions where the normal press driven pile is unsuitable or insufficient, or more simply to rapidly build deep foundations for new structures, SYSTAB proposes ELIKA, a screw pile with discontinuous helixes. This system is widely used in Anglo-Saxon countries and has enormous potential, but is still little used in Italy.
SYSTAB 's discontinuous helix micro-piles in steel combine the advantages of an active technology with those of deep piling but with a fast and low impact construction site, here are the main features:
- Modular technology of S460NH steel micropiles formed by a battery of modules driven into the ground by rotation;
- the rotation, which screws the micropile into the ground, takes place with the help of hydraulic motors installed on very compact operating machines, without soil extraction;
- the tip module is equipped with one or more discontinuous propellers and for certain applications later extensions may also be equipped with propellers;
- propeller diameter averaging between 300 and 350 mm;
-helix shape and pitch designed not to disturb the ground during pile driving;
- standard pile diameter 76 mm;
- thickness 8 to 16 mm;
- micro-pile length depending on geotechnical conditions and design requirements (loads);
-coupling between modules by bolting;
- pile-fabrication connection with steel plates, dowels (mechanical or chemical) and high-strength bolts;
- complete reversibility of the pile which can be unscrewed and then removed from the ground, particularly suitable for temporary structures in constrained areas.
