Lintels for load-bearing masonry are optimal for making openings of up to 2.5 m on load-bearing masonry 20 to 40 cm thick. Lintels must be handled with suitable equipment according to the weight of the individual element. Ytong load-bearing lintels allow the external wall to be homogenous, optimising its thermal insulation and durability. Being reinforced on the inside and having the same thickness as the masonry, they allow the load from the floor above to be carried. In the case of a 40-cm-thick load-bearing wall, two 20-cm-thick load-bearing lintels are placed side by side.
More than 100 years ago, in 1923, architect and researcher Dr. Axel Eriksson invented "vapor-vulcanized gas concrete" in Sweden - now known as autoclaved aerated concrete. Together with Carl August Carlén, an entrepreneur, they started the first production in 1929 in Yxhult, southern Sweden, at a time of great scarcity of raw materials and stricter energy laws.
A competitive advantage on the market
The sustainability of buildings is increasingly at the center of construction trends, with modern sustainability policies undertaken by international institutions and organizations that have favored the increase of this trend.
The choice of materials and construction technologies are fundamental to obtaining homes that consume less and consequently have a lower environmental impact.
A sustainable home can cost on average 8% more than a normal home, but this difference is compensated by numerous advantages in the long term: a healthier and more comfortable environment, significant economic savings compared to bills and a higher value of the building; It is estimated, in fact, that the value of a green property can increase from 2 to 10% with sales times halved from 8 to 4 months.
