Billiani EDELWEISS 297 Upholstered ash chair

Edelweiss 297 is a solid ash wood chair with felt glides and upholstered seat.‎ Edelweiss is a collection of chairs, stools, and lounge seats born from Philippe Bestenheider’s desire to engage with the materiality of wood.‎ Crafted from thin layers of plywood, the seats combine the comfort of generous surfaces with the formal and structural elegance of Swiss design.‎ The arched shape of the wide backrest is designed to interlock seamlessly with the seat, creating a balance between tension and compression forces that evokes a micro-architecture and references traditional Alpine chairs.‎ The chair is available in two versions—with a solid or perforated backrest.‎ The version with perforations is even lighter, featuring graphic cutouts that push material reduction to the limit and result in an agile, contract-friendly seating solution.‎ Further info from manufacturer on EDELWEISS 297 Billiani
