The attachment of strikers to aluminium drip profiles is an operation that is only apparently quick and simple. The most commonly used system consists of drilling the profile with an iron point and then screwing in a standard length (12 or 15 mm) self-tapping iron screw; however, these sizes are often either too short or too long. It would be quicker to use iron screws with a self-drilling bit, but other problems arise: with a 12 mm length, there is a risk that the thread is too short to grip the aluminium profile; with a 15 mm length, the risk is to reach the marble sill and thus ruin it.
EFG 141A avoids the need for pre-drilling. Thanks to a special hardening, a special geometry of the thread start and the inclination of the drill bit, model 141A drills the aluminium profile of the drip edge with absolute ease. The absence of a self-drilling iron drill bit eliminates the problem of poor grip on the profile. In order to allow perfect screwing and to avoid the risk of damaging the sill surface, two lengths are available: 14 mm for strikers with screw housings perpendicular to the profile, 12 mm for strikers with offset housings. The 8 mm diameter head fills the countersunk hole of the striker precisely, ensuring optimal pressure for fastening.
