New SAF® screw for concealed wood/wood and wood/concrete joints.‎ FEATURES EFG SAF: - Reduced self-flaring flat head: The EFG SAF screw has a reduced countersunk head with a diameter of 15 mm.‎ Special self countersinking fins are positioned under the head to facilitate the screw's penetration into the wood.‎ The precision of the hole created and its diameter make it possible to use traditional wood plugs without the need for additional pre-drilling with a larger diameter.‎ If fire resistance is required, it is possible to penetrate the EFG SAF screw deep into the wood and then to protect it with the use of special plugs of a thickness suited to the required resistance.‎ The SAF self-drilling screw falls under fire reaction class A1 (DM 10 March 2005, as amended by DM 25 October 2007).‎ A Torx T40 insert with increased depth has been adopted for perfect grip and force transmission of the screwdriver.‎ Furthermore, for the guarantee of the person laying and for the safety of those who have to supervise the work, the total length of the screw is stamped on the head.‎ - Thread: This is the characterising element of the SAF screw.‎ Thanks to its presence in the entry phase, it helps the insertion of the screw itself, so there is no need to keep pushing to advance the fastener.‎ The main function of the thread, however, is to thread and fasten onto the central metal plate so as to create a much more stable and resistant connection than traditional dowels.‎ The simultaneous effect of the resistance of the thread in the bracket and the compression of the head on the wood create a joint effect that makes the entire joint secure.‎ The self-threading capacity is increased due to the triple helical spiral, which also allows the reduction and displacement of chips.‎ The thread is not symmetrical with respect to the length of the screw, so that the SAF screw can be mounted flush with the timber beam or inserted into the beam itself for aesthetic or fire resistance purposes.‎ A further great advantage of the thread is that it allows the SAF screw to be removed easily and effortlessly: simply reverse the - Self-drilling drill bit: The special drill bit is capable of easily drilling through thick wood and metal plates and then wood again.‎ Being a single body with the rest of the screw, it is impossible for the drill to become detached or deformed during screwing or unscrewing.‎ The penetration capacity has been certified at the Lignum Test Centre in TU Graz (A) on aluminium thicknesses from 6mm, but also in S275 steel up to 8mm (without pre-drilling in wood) and S235 up to 10mm.‎ The innovative design also includes special grooves that pulverise excess chips and prevent jamming.‎
