ASSISI
Wooden parquet
Assisi by Paolo Duranti is a wooden parquet by Mardegan Legno in collaboration with SOS School of Sustainability.
The design takes inspiration from the lower square of San Francesco in Assisi. The square, an obligatory passage for those who want to reach the Basilica, orients and gives rhythm to the visitor’s path thanks to the combination of the elements that compose it: the perimeter portico and the stone paving of various colors.
The perception of rhythm and continuity, that can be felt in the composition of the square, has been reported in the design pattern. Thus, a light element is enclosed and interspersed with a thin and dark element, aiming to provide a design that could be both rustic and elegant, like the Piazza Inferiore of San Francesco in Assisi.
The idea of working together with SOS School of Sustainability, a post-graduate school founded in 2015 by Arch. Mario Cucinella, born from the desire of Mardegan Legno, to develop new collections that have as primary focus sustainability and environmental protection.
The collaboration marks an important moment in the research of Mardegan Legno, which combines creativity, innovation, craftsmanship and environmental sustainability in a highly professional educational and educational context.
The result are 10 different collections, developed by young emerging designers who combine the most modern design trends with the careful and conscious use of raw materials, a unique opportunity to combine creativity and innovation with environmental sustainability.
