PH Pianos & PH Furniture PH STEEL CHAIR Steel and leather chair

The PH Snake Chair Counter is a steel chair with a leather seat and backrest.‎ Steel finish: chrome, dark copper (glossy) Upholstery: aniline leather or Kjellerup Væveri wool fabric Designed in 1932 by Poul Henningsen, the PH Steel Chair distils Bauhaus-era clarity into PH’s own language: a simple, linear construction drawn in bent steel, balanced by oblique curves and exact angles.‎ The legs reminiscent of the roots of a tree provide discreet stability without distracting from the seat and back above.‎ Calm, functional and quietly architectural for dining rooms, meeting spaces and lounges.‎ In 1932, Poul Henningsen presented eight tubular steel furniture designs at the Danish Fair for Industrial Design and Products.‎ Bold, elegant and radically modern, the pieces stood apart from the wood furniture that defined the time.‎ Although they drew attention in the Danish press, the collection never entered serial production.‎ The market was not yet ready for such avant-garde designs, and the technology of the 1930s could not fully realize their complexity.‎ Their curved forms and innovative construction were simply too advanced for the period.‎ Only today has it become possible to reproduce them with the precision they require.‎ After years of research, development and the search for the right craftsmanship, the collection has finally been brought to life.‎ Each piece is produced in full respect of PH’s original vision and proportions.‎ The result is a collection that still feels strikingly contemporary almost a century later.‎ Functional yet sculptural, these works stand as timeless design pieces made for daily use and lasting value.‎  Further info from manufacturer on PH STEEL CHAIR PH Pianos & PH Furniture
