The regulation requires that in centralized systems with direct metering of energy and domestic hot water, the times of delivery of domestic hot water must be kept below 30 seconds, bringing, if necessary, the DHW recirculation line inside the apartment.‎ In this case, a problem arises related to the accounting of the domestic hot water consumed: in fact, the use of a single meter would calculate the movement of water in the sum of consumption even when the individual supply points of the apartment were closed.‎ The simplest solution could consist in inserting a second meter on the return of the recirculation line from the apartment and performing the accounting as the difference between what enters the apartment as DHW and what returns as recirculation.‎ But this solution does not work: in fact, the measurement error committed by the two meters is greater than the volume of domestic hot water actually consumed by the users of the apartment, making this method inapplicable.‎ So how can the problem of correct accounting be solved?
