GUIDOLE
Floor lamp with mouth-blown opaline glass lampshade
Guidole is a floor lamp with a unique design, characterized by a leather-clad structure and a mouth-blown opal glass lampshade.
Marie-Aurore Stiker-Métral describes the project as follows: "Guidole translates the language of cycling into a lamp: the leather-clad base recalls the shape of handlebars, while the opal glass dome diffuses a soft and enveloping light.
Guidole adopts this logic: the base, a metal tube covered in leather, recalls the tape of racing handlebars. The technical function becomes a decorative gesture, while the material adds warmth and tactility to an essential and slender structure. At the top, the opal glass dome diffuses a uniform and delicate light, while the pure shape highlights the presence of the base, defining a clear and almost graphic silhouette.
The lamp is born from the collaboration between Ligne Roset and Origine Cycles, a French brand specializing in high-end bicycles. Presented at the Palais de Tokyo in April 2025, the project explores the encounter between two know-hows: cycling engineering and Ligne Roset's mastery in seat work, upholstery, and saddlery. The symbolic elements of the bicycle — handlebars and seat post — have been covered in leather, creating a surprising dialogue between mechanics and craftsmanship.
Thus Guidole transports the spirit of cycling into the domestic environment, combining technical precision, elegance of lines, and quality of materials."
