MAGE BITUJOINT 50
BITUJOINT 50 is a bituminous mastic modified with special polymers to be used as a bonding agent for pad joints and logically also excellent as a crack sealant in asphalt and/or concrete pavements.
Formulated to be a durable, waterproof and resistant solution to the action of heavy traffic on roads and motorways as well as to annual thermal cycles.
To use BITUJOINT 50, it is essential to use thermostatically controlled boilers equipped with mixing paddles; the thermostats should be adjusted so as not to exceed the correct operating temperatures while the paddles should be operated during the heating phase to ensure the correct mixing of the components.
When laying expansion joints to obtain a durable mix, it is recommended to use a dust-free, heated inert material to ensure proper adhesion between the components.
When applying mastic for sealing cracks, it is recommended to thoroughly clean the substrate, making it as hot as possible so that the mastic can penetrate better.
Fields of application
Laying of expansion joints, sealing cracks on flexible and rigid floors, airport runways.
Instructions for use
Heat to a temperature of 180 ± 10° C and mix in special boilers with stirrers until the material is homogeneously mixed.
Ensure that temperatures are under control and avoid exceeding 200° C, the maximum safe temperature.
For joints
Use the mastic at all stages of the joint-laying process, taking care not to exceed the maximum use temperature. For a correct formulation of the mixture, a quantity of mastic between 15 and 25 % of the aggregates is suggested.
For sealing
After thorough cleaning and consequent heating of the damaged area, pour the bituminous mastic, taking care to pour the material one centimetre on each side more than the lesions.
For concrete floors the use of primer is suggested.
