ONE FOR THE EDGE
Plastic and metal lamp
One for the Edge is a light object for both corners of a room and corners of the mind. With its small red body, the piece actively yet gently illuminates the places where usually unnoticed.
The big circular wheel can be turned by hand to control both switching and dimming, allowing the light to be adjusted through a simple physical gesture rather than a conventional switch.
The piece can be used either wall-mounted or as a tabletop object. It is a powered (non-rechargeable) light, and one of its distinctive features is its dual power-entry design: the power inlet is placed on both the back and the underside, and either connection point can be used depending on the setting.
The piece is framed as a product released by the fictional 1955 American company “EMATON ELECTRONICS.” In its story, the light was designed by one of the company’s engineers for his child, who was afraid of the darkness in the bedroom. The work is rooted in the idea that even an ordinary industrial part once used in a factory can have a second life. Through this fictional product history, One for the Edge invites attention to overlooked stories hidden in corners—both in space and in the mind.
