Fibre-reinforced Concrete is certainly one of the most important innovations in the development of structural products.‎ The use of fibres in a cement system, such as concrete or mortar, is the best prevention of crack propagation induced by the onset of tensile stresses.‎ In relation to the project specifications, formulations have been studied that foresee the use of two types of fibres differing in composition, shape and geometry: - polypropylene fibres: they offer a valid contribution to counteracting plastic surface shrinkage, reducing the risk of cracks in cast structures; - steel fibres: they allow a significant increase in resistance to bending and impact, also counteracting hygrometric shrinkage.‎ FÌBREO® has been carefully developed to achieve ideal homogenisation between its different components.‎ Particular attention has been paid to chemical compatibility and adherence between fibres and cement matrix to prevent the fibres from unravelling and to preserve their resistance to internal stresses that cause cracking.‎ FÌBREO is the result of numerous laboratory tests that precisely define dosages, fibre sizes and every other parameter in relation to the volume of the casting to be carried out and the performance required.‎ Applications FÌBREO is suitable for building structures where the effects of shrinkage need to be reduced.‎ In specific situations, depending on the project requirements, this concrete offers the possibility of building structures without having to first lay electro-welded mesh and/or lay secondary reinforcement.‎ This provides several technical advantages in addition to speed and safety.‎ In particular: FÌBREO®polypropylene is recommended for reducing or even eliminating cracks induced by plastic shrinkage that usually occurs in the first 24 hours after casting.‎ It is therefore ideal for use in castings which, due to their surface extension, are subject to rapid evaporation of the mix water.‎ It is also specific for applications where durability and resistance to high stress and wear is required; FÌBREO®steel ensures shrinkage reduction allowing the designer to reduce and, in specific cases, avoid the insertion of normal metal reinforcements.‎ FÌBREO® concrete with steel fibres is suitable for the production of guaranteed performance fluid concretes.‎
