SILÌCEO® is formulated with silica fumes and has an extremely compact and resistant structure that is not very permeable to air and water: silica fumes, in fact, reduce water permeability by up to 50% compared to ordinary concretes with the same water/cement ratio. Furthermore, as a result of the micro-pozzolanic activity developed by the silica fumes, surfaces made with SILÌCEO® have high resistance to attacks by aggressive substances present in the soil (sulphates), in the air (carbon dioxide), in sea water (chlorides) and in pure water (carbonic acid) and also have high resistance to the phenomena of abrasion, washout and erosion. In addition to these remarkable properties, SILÌCEO also has high compressive strength with low development of heat of hydration and, therefore, reduced cracking phenomena due to thermal differential shrinkage. SILÌCEO® therefore promotes greater durability than can be achieved with traditional Concrete.
Applications
SILÌCEO® is suitable for building structures that are highly impermeable and resistant to chemical aggression in the main environments of use.
Examples:
- rafts and walls under the water table
- containment tanks requiring high impermeability
- structures in aggressive environments (highly industrialised areas, marine environments, sulphur-rich soils)
- hydraulic works
- building and industrial structures with exposed face
- special structures requiring high durability to reduce the frequency of maintenance
Advantages
- high mechanical strength
- compactness and high degree of impermeability
- reduced occurrence of cracks
