STS
With the new STS programme for the FEM calculation of steel nodes, CDJ Win, a new era opens up in the calculation of metal joints.
Thanks to the basic module 'FEA-Connection', the calculation of steel nodes takes a giant step forward: the FEM calculation of steel nodes makes it possible to calculate connections with any geometry.
The input work is made very simple by a specially developed CAD, which allows you to 'draw' the node without having to worry about the calculation model, which will be deduced by the programme's algorithms in a totally automatic and transparent manner.
You can therefore deal with the calculation of joints with any geometry: if you can draw it, you can calculate it!
To give an idea of the importance of this new software, suffice it to say that in a single tool have been implemented:
- A three-dimensional vector CAD in solid modelling (not a simple graphical restitution window of a numerical input);
- A three-dimensional brick meshing tool (not simple shells with no thickness) with very high precision and efficiency;
- A 64-bit parallel solver with a speed resolution speed, among the highest currently available on the world market;
- A three-dimensional brick-type finite element calculator with both geometric and material non-linearity (available as an OpenSees© module);
- A next-generation colourmap result visualiser.
In the face of such technological complexity, the use of the programme is, conversely, of absolute simplicity. Once the node has been designed, the calculation model will be realised in total autonomy by the programme; furthermore, the control of the results is shockingly simple thanks to the use of colourmaps of stresses, deformations and highlighting of critical stress points. As an output, a 'solid' three-dimensional file is returned which, imported into any 3D CAD, makes it easy to realise the executive of the node.
