VMZINC ANTHRA-ZINC®
ANTHRA-ZINC® is the first pre-patinated zinc launched 30 years ago by VMZINC. It is an anthracite zinc that goes well with slate, with which it is often associated.
Its protective patina comes from a process of treating the surface of natural zinc by phosphating. This pre-patination process gives the zinc a distinctive black appearance from the start, while being environmentally friendly.
ANTHRA-ZINC® is coated on both sides with a thin organic resin that provides protection and gives it a unique aesthetic appearance.
It has a charcoal grey appearance. Its patina is very homogenous and changes little over time, accentuating its dark hue. Its texture is specific to zinc.
ANTHRA-ZINC® blends harmoniously with other building materials, especially in slate and losa stone roofing.
Used for a long time only for rainwater drainage systems and roofing finishes, architects now appreciate without limit the architectural possibilities offered by ANTHRA-ZINC® in both roofing and façade applications.
Technical characteristics of pre-patinates
The surface patina is obtained by immersing natural zinc in a solution that modifies the crystalline structure of the metal to a minimum thickness of one micron.
This is a phosphating process, i.e. a chemical transformation of the surface layer of the metal that is durable, uniform and stable over time.
