IS FUOCO is the software for the design and verification of sections under fire conditions.‎ The software performs REI verifications of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete and steel elements under fire conditions according to NTC 2018 and Eurocodes.‎ Thethermal analysis of the section subjected to a fire load is carried out using the Finite Element method at three and four nodes and requires integration over the entire domain and over time of the Fourier equation.‎ The introduction of the section is simple and intuitive, it can consist of one or more contours and can have holes and internal cavities.‎ The section can be taken from a large database of standard shapes or from the steel element profile or be imported from .‎dxf or drawn using the program's internal cad.‎ PROPERTIES OF THE SOFTWARE The contours introduced can be made of different materials, structural and non-structural, in the latter case choosing between air and insulation.‎ The mechanical and thermal characteristics of the most commonly used materials are already present by default in the programme, in particular concrete, brick, steel (for slow reinforcement, for prestressing reinforcement and for profiles) and some of the main insulators.‎ The user can still insert new materials by entering the respective temperature-time and stress-strain curves.‎ The mechanical properties of the materials and the thermal properties are managed completely independently, giving the user maximum freedom to combine the desired characteristics.‎ The exposure characteristics define the boundary conditions for solving the heat diffusion equation within the section.‎ The boundary conditions are imposed by means of exposure types, which define the heat transfer parameters, and exposure zones, which localise the flows on the section boundary.‎ The different available exposure types, defined by UNI 9502 and EC1 Part 2-2, contain the definition of all properties affecting heat transfer and are Standard Fire, Outdoor Fire, Hydrocarbon Fire, Internal Voids and Air 20°.‎ The user can create his own exposure types.‎ It is therefore sufficient to select the desired exposure type and apply it to a portion of the contour.‎ The mesh is created fully automatically.‎ If you have complex sections, consisting of several elements of different sizes and shapes, and you have created different meshes, the programme will create the connections between the various mesh levels by inserting new elements.‎ Once the exposure zones have been introduced and the mesh has been constructed, it is possible to generate heat maps at set time intervals.‎ During the generation of heat maps, it is possible to display the progression of temperatures within the section and the temperature of the gases in contact with the walls on the screen.‎ The different ways of displaying the heat maps are fully customisable via selection boxes, the heat map of the section can be viewed by means of a coloured scale, isotherms, temperatures at the nodes, in the centre of the finite elements and in the irons.‎ Once the heat maps have been generated, it is possible to request the temperature value at any point.‎ The mechanical verification of the stressed section takes place in deviated press-flexion, with the possibility of introducing impressed deformations; this allows the analysis of composite sections, or with prestressing cables.‎ It is possible to verify sections in deviated press-flexion or straight press-flexion by calculating the mechanical characteristics on the basis of the stored heat maps.‎ The mechanical verifications involve searching for the deformation and tension situation as a function of a given stress triplet.‎ It is also possible to search for ultimate stress, e.‎g.‎ search for ultimate normal stress.‎ The on-screen display of the results can contain various information that can be selected from: - deformations: shows elastic deformations in the form of a coloured map; - maximum tensions/tensions: shows the percentage of material utilisation taking into account its damage.‎ It is useful for highlighting areas which, although presenting a very low tension, are in fact fully utilised due to their damage; - tensions: shows the trend of tensions within the element and individual bars.‎ The visualisations in the form of a coloured map are accompanied by two colour scales, referring respectively to concrete and steel, on which the maximum values theoretically attainable by the materials and the maximum values actually attained in the situation represented are indicated.‎ As with the heat maps, it is possible to read the punctual value of the displayed quantity at any point of the section or at a particular iron.‎ IS FUOCO is able to generate a complete report of both the thermal analysis and the mechanical verification; this report can be created in .‎doc, .‎html and .‎txt format.‎ Related module: Is DiagInt is a software application capable of receiving, displaying and saving, in the form of an interaction diagram, the resistant domains of a generic structural section and the stresses acting on it.‎ It also allows the punctual interrogation of the investigation points calculated by IS FUOCO.‎ The programme is able to interface with any other structural module; it currently extrapolates the results of IS FUOCO, obtained for different temperatures, and represents them two-dimensionally as a function of stress.‎ In real time, it is possible to check whether or not a given triad of stresses falls within the diagram corresponding to the chosen fire exposure time, which can be easily distinguished thanks to the colour scale and indices.‎ The programme saves the calculated diagrams and stresses in a proprietary format and allows images to be exported.‎ Is DiagInt will soon be compatible with the other structural modules.‎ Related module: IS FUOCO is a software application that performs fire load calculations in accordance with the Decree of 9 March 2007 - Fire resistance performance of buildings in activities subject to the control of the National Fire Brigade Corps -.‎ This decree establishes the criteria for determining the fire resistance performance that buildings in activities subject to the control of the National Fire Brigade Corps must possess, with the exception of activities for which fire resistance performance is expressly established by specific technical fire prevention regulations.‎ The programme contains an extensive, editable database containing the calorific values of numerous materials.‎ IS FUOCO automatically takes into account all the coefficients provided for by the regulations and derives the fire resistance class required to guarantee the performance level.‎ Related module: Is FuocTab implements the analytical procedure for assessing the fire resistance of reinforced, normal and prestressed concrete construction elements dictated by EN 1992-1-2, i.‎e.‎Eurocode 2, which deals with structural design against fire.‎ The tables propose sufficient conditions for the classification of fire-resistant construction elements; the values contained are the result of experimental campaigns and numerical processing and refer to the most commonly used construction types and materials.‎ The use of the tables is strictly limited to the classification of construction elements for which fire resistance is required with respect to the standard temperature-time curve and other mechanical actions expected in the event of fire.‎
